Potter

It all started last saturday.....

Saturday the twenty-first of the month of October was a rather long and tiring day. I woke up early (for my standards) but didn't get up til 900. A horrible delaying tactic, I know, but when you're desperate you'll try anything. I sat in my chair doing nothing til 945 and finally taook my shower. At 1005 I was downstairs eating breakfast and putting on socks and shoes. (*shudders*) At 1017 Dad took me to the church. After telling me where Mom had gone, the hospital that is, Uncle Jeff was in with chest pains. So we left. I got there and... none of the teens were there, except Michael. We were supposed to be there at 1030, right? Even if none of us knew why? After a few more minutes people started arriving. And for 1 1/2 hours I did nothing but talk to Lindsay, Sam and Shaela, carry some paper mache balloons around and tape newspaper to a table.

1200. The people begin to arrive. The real people, you know. The Harvest Party has begun. I'm hurridly eating the rest of my lunch. Watching Mom look around for me. Nathan, Crystal, Richard and Daniel (who's Daniel? hehe) are with her. I finish my cookie and reluctantly head to my post. Pumpkin painting. There is worse. I force Richard to paint a pumpkin, threaten to make his week misery. Nathan joins him. I spend the next three hours instructing kids, cutting out faces (enjoyed that part!) and running the horse race. Yes, Mr. Wayne left us all alone with the horse race for "just a few minutes". An hour later he's finally back. Or was it longer? I'm not sure, I couldn't find my watch that morning.

1500. Free! Sorta. You see next come Hallelujah Day. An alternative to Halloween hosted by the Fikes. It was cold. And I didn't know anyone. And Crystal forgot who Daniel was (only for a moment though). But! I did enjoy the band known as the Mighty Underdogs. I was in the perfect position to watch the drummer. *sighs in ecstasy* So my day was redeemed.

1930. Home sweet home! I'm too tired to do anything but sit and stare blankly with glazed eyes. Being on your feet all day does that to you.

But 2000 brings me to my point. My original introduction to the fascinating character known in my mind as Potter. Harry, that is. From 2000 to 2300 I watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with Dad.

Tuesday the twenty-fourth. Mom and I hike over to Mansfield to buy Crystal's brithday present. (Today, by the way. Happy 15th Crystal!) We stop at the library. I ask Mom the ultimate question, Can I check out Harry Potter? Mom calls Dad and we get a yes. I know she's not the happiest with it. We are Christians and if you haven't heard the havoc raised about Harry Potter than you obviously live somewhere in a different system. Surely not ours. The thing I don't understand is why. I've read Eragon and Eldest and though I can't be sure as I haven't read the Harry Potter books (I plan on it this summer), I have a suspicion that Mom would prefer Potter to those. So the only reason Mom would let me read the Inheritance trilogy then, is the fact that she has heard nothing against it.

People get on my nerves.

I don't mind people not reading them because the have magic. I just believe that it should be up to the reader, and also, in the case of a minor, the parent.

There's my little chunk of philosophy for the day.

So after I checked it out (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, that is) I spent the drive home trying to figure a time when both Dad and I could watch it. There wasn't one. So I watched it that evening.

Thusday the twenty-sixth. I was bored, what can I say. I didn't feel like reading, so I uh... watched it again? (Heh.)

Saturday the twenty-eighth, yesterday. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was on. I didn't see the first half hour, but I managed anyway.

Don't ask why I told you all this. I just felt I needed too, so here it is. Long, rambling story important to no one but me. Read if you like, it's my life.

WooHoo!!

I am done! It's 1300 and I'm done with everything! Yes! No school, no drum. The only things I have to do today are drums lessons at 1800 and studying science terms and reading (the last two very conveniently occur at the same time). But I'm done, I'm done. *dances around the room in a fit of utter madness and joy*

*slowly regains control and settles*

Among other news, I've picked up some WriMo buddies at the Ted Dekker Forum. The only question is, Do I tell them m own name?

NaNoWriMo 2006

Last night I figured out what my story for NaNoWriMo this year would be. The oddest circumstances. But I don't think I'll go into them. Let's just say God was teaching me a lesson and leave it at that.

I'm doing Lily's story. Interesting girl. So much has been coming to me this morning. I've even developed Emrys's character some (!). I don't know if I've ever told this, but my stories, well, they aren't mine. I'm privileged to know them, to write them. They're God's, He's just kind enough to let me borrow them. Believe, I could never come up with half this stuff on my own.

That's all I really wanted to say. I'm playing DragonFable as I write this (it's a weekend event, just try and stop me), so I'll end here with a note of good luck for other writers. I know what you're going through.

You all should join NaNoWriMo. I'm dreamer freak over there. (Fits right?) See you on the other side.

Dark Hour

I remembered!

Actually I remembered ummm, last night or the night before. What can I say? I'm a busy girl. *grins*

Anyway, it was Elisha. I loved the way she depicted Elisha! To see a man of God laughing like a maniac in the middle of a road wasn't exactly what I expected but it was perfect. And the scene with the boy Jonah. "Run for your life." Beautiful. How could I have possibly forgotten.

And for your knowledge, I have decided to start supporting blours. (That would be a blog tour bor those of you who have not read famed author, Brandilyn Collin's blog. And shame on you.) So if you happen to hear of one I might be interested in drop me a coment.

I know there are others out there. I can feel you. *glares into the outer dark*

The World Hates Me

So, it probably only feels that way, but so what?

I tried to get yesterday (really!) but my stupid computer wouldn't let me. (This time I'll be nice and won't blame it on poor Blogger as usual.) Yesterday, I was bored out of my mind. I went with Mom to Aunt Jenny's (Mom's) birthday party. Now I've undoubtedly met her before, but I sure don't remember it. We stayed for 3 1/2 hours. Whoop. So I sat and did nothing. *sighs*

So, maybe the world doesn't hate me. But sometimes it just really sucks.

But on to something happier. I finished on Friday, The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. She's a German author, and I've had this book in my pile for what seems like forever waiting to read it. And it's turn finally came! It's beautiful. I just need to read all her others now. I'd like to own German copies of her books. Not that I'm anywhere close to being able to read them. But I'd feel special owning them and it'd be nice one day to read them in the original language.

Since I'm talking of books right now, I have to mention one I read about a week ago. It's called The Begotten by Lisa Tawn Bergren. (Isn't the the coolest name?) If you ever see it pick it up. It's amazing! I don't know that I could really describe it if I tried so I won't. *grins*

It's almost November! I don't know which story to write! Ah, maybe I'd better explain myself. You see last year I signed up for NaNoWriMo at the very end of the month. So I didn't get a chance to participate. This year I plan to. Well, at least try. I may fail miserably, but it doesn't really matter.

Dear readers, write!

Sorry....

Blogger let me get on! Okay, so that wasn't the only thing stopping me, but I did try to get on tuesday and it wouldn't let me. So I'll blame it all on them. Easier that way.

I must say that I love my German. I don't know if I'm learning anything, but I love it anyway so it keeps me happy.

On to the more important subjects. I finished a book yesterday called Dark Hour. I know there was something I was going to say about it.... Hold on a let me think.

Oh yeah! Dang, lost it. Give me a minute more here.

Sheesh my mind is pathetic. I can't remember. Well, maybe I'll come back to it. (mocking voice in head: "Yeah, like three years from now.")
Okay, but I really do remember the other thing about books I wanted to say. It's about The Mysteries by Lisa Tuttle? Yeah, well, it frightens me. I started it last night, and I don't know that I'll ever pick it up again. It's not that it scary. It's really good as far as I've read (which would be 7 chapters). It just felt wrong. Very wrong. And right after I got in bed, then I did feel scared for just the shortest moment. Prayer is an amazing thing.
Has anybody out there read it? What do you think?
And I promise if I can remember what I was going to say about Dark Hour I'll run and tell you no matter what I'm in the middle of.
God bless you dreams! (for they are your life)
